Seis sonatas para la Reina de España

En familia: Escuela Bolera

World premiere by the Ballet Nacional de España on 12th July 1985 at the Roman Theatre of Spoleto, Italy, during the 28th Festival dei Due Mondi. Revived on 5th March 2008 to mark the company’s 30th anniversary.

In 1985, the International Year of Music coincided with the tercentenary of Domenico Scarlatti’s birth. Aware of the Queen of Spain’s affection for Italian music, choreographer Ángel Pericet dedicated this ballet to her, while María de Ávila, then Director of the Ballet Nacional de España, paid tribute to Domenico Scarlatti and to Italy by presenting the ballet in its world premiere in Spoleto on 12th July 1985.
