World premiere by Carmen Cubillo on 29th April 1978 at the Ateneo de Madrid. Premiered by the Ballet Nacional de España on 25th October 2012 at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid (Spain).
Choreographer and former Director of the Ballet Nacional de España Victoria Eugenia created this solo inspired by Antonio Ruiz Soler’s choreography for a couple, which she herself danced with Antonio de Ronda during her years in the company of the great Spanish dance artist. The composition by the Navarrese musician, based on the jota of his native region, is an exquisite stylisation of traditional folk forms, masterfully choreographed by Victoria Eugenia. The dancer emerges mysteriously from the half-light, before revealing herself in a dance that is as subtle and delicate as it is full of spirit and energy.
