World premiere by the Ballet Nacional de España on the 1st of September, 1988, at the Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona, Spain).
Set to original music by José Nieto, José Antonio choreographs a zarabanda, a slow dance in 3/2 or 3/4 time, of Spanish — or perhaps Eastern — origin, which was performed in Spain by the mid-16th century in a lascivious style that lends plausibility to its possible Eastern roots.
