World premiere by the Ballet Nacional de España on 3rd April 2002 at the Wilshire Theatre in Los Angeles (United States).
This choreography is named after Juan Sánchez "El Estampío" (Jerez de la Frontera, 1879-Madrid, 1957), whose nickname is due to the way he encouraged himself with his voice whilst dancing. "El Estampío" was a famous flamenco dancer, master of "zapateado" (footwork) and "alegrías", with an extremely personal style of arm-movements.
